Andy and Karen purchased Lupton Lodge in 2005 and since then have been building up the quality, facilities and reputation of the business through a process of attention to detail, hard work and a love of what we do.
After spending the 10-15 years travelling the world we are confident that New Zealand really is the best place to be on earth. Andy is originally from England. Karen is a New Zealander.
Interested in encouraging tourists to go off-the-beaten-track, we searched for a place that we could believe in and develop into something special for both international and domestic travellers.
After staying in hundreds of places around the world, for both business and pleasure, we have a picture in our minds of what it takes to make your stay enjoyable, whilst still being affordable. If you have any ideas on further improvements we’d be interested to hear them.
Andy gave up his desk job and re-trained as a chef in preparation for running Lupton Lodge 10 years ago. He makes delicious meals for guests and looks after the property and Lodge. If you have special dietary requirements he’s more than happy to accommodate them….
Karen runs a web-marketing company and through her previous work for AA Tourism in Northland she gained extensive knowledge about what to do and where to stay in our beautiful region.

We speak a little Japanese, Flemish and French between us and are always keen for a bit of practise.
