The Poor Knights Islands were named by Jacques Cousteau as one of the world’s top 10 dive locations. The islands are a marine reserve below water and a wildlife reserve above water. The islands are located 23km off the beautiful Tutukaka Coast in Northland, New Zealand.
The abundance of friendly fish and other colourful tropical and subtropical sea life never fails to astound and amaze divers and snorkelers alike. The underground caves, tunnels and archways provide a diverse range of terrain for underwater explorers of all levels. This is New Zealand’s premium dive location and with over 100 sites it should be a must-do on the itinerary of all divers visiting Northland.
Dive! Tutukaka’s professional dive boats depart Tutukaka Marina daily at 8am. High quality equipment, air and lunch, can be supplied. The Dive! Tutukaka operation is Qualmark rated and includes experienced instructors and guides free of charge. The trips return around 4pm so we recommend a minimum of 2 nights stay in the area to best enjoy the experience. Free parking is available on-site or there is a dive shuttle service from Whangarei. You can book your dive trip online here.
The purpose built multi-deck “A Perfect Day” cruise boat provides non-divers with a unique opportunity to explore the riches of the Poor Knights Islands in style. The relaxing sightseeing & snorkeling trip includes lunch, snorkeling and kayaking at The Poor Knights Islands. The cruise takes in breathtaking scenery, marine life, sea birds, native flora and a historical account of the islands. You can book your trip online here.
